Village Meeting Minutes – July and August, 2014

I want to begin by thanking the many members of the Southampton Association and the community who attended numerous Village Trustee and ARB meetings over the past 2 months. Your support and input will hopefully be heard by our Trustees and Architectural Review Board (ARB) members. Editorial On Tuckahoe-Southampton School Merger

Editorial in The Independent, August 27, 2014

School District Merger Rejected by Southampton Voters

Thanks to the interest and support of many, the straw poll that occurred October 29th regarding the proposed merger of the Southampton and Tuckahoe School Districts was rejected by the Southampton voters.

The lack of clarity of terms, scant details on savings and no safeguards over future cost increases meant that approving the straw poll would have irreversibly moved the merger forward, regardless

Tuckahoe And Southampton School Boards Hire Firm For Merger Study

The Tuckahoe and Southampton school boards selected the SES Study Team LLC from Albany to conduct a merger feasibility study for the two districts, and officials from both districts agreed to start making plans for a one-year exclusivity deal between the two districts. As a result, Tuckahoe’s high school age students will go only to Southampton High School, which will lower tuition rates for Tuckahoe while the long-term study gets under way.
