The Southampton Association was pleased to re-engage the nationally recognized retail consultant Bob Gibbs to review his 2013 Study as it relates to the recent proposal to introduce retail as an additional use along North Sea Road. Mr. Gibbs makes 4 main points in his argument against the retail overlay in his executive summary:

Gibbs Planning Group has been asked by the Southampton Association to review the proposed rezoning of the North Sea Road to permit retail and restaurant land uses, as recommended in the Nelson, Pope and Voohis, LLC (NPV) March 3, 2016 report. The Southampton Village Planning Commission held another presentation on the the proposed sewer district on January 7th. The Commission was originally going to prepare its recommendations for the Village Board regarding the sewer district proposal at this week’s meeting, but the discussion will remain ongoing for now.
