Village Meeting Minutes – July and August 2013

At the July and August Trustees meetings, the main topics of conversation were discussions regarding the Summer Surf Camp, a presentation on the building of a sewer district within the Village as outlined in a Suffolk County study, and concerns about parking and congestion in the Village center.

The Flying Point Surf Camp was granted a permit to operate this summer, and specific rules were established for approval in the future.  The Village Board has decided to amend its code to permit the camp

Studies on Southampton Village Retail Market and additional grocery store available

On  September 18th and 19th, the Southampton Association  invited Robert Gibbs, a retail planning consultant, to make a presentation at Southampton Village Hall and a work session of the Southampton Town Board on his findings.  The links to the retail market analysis and his firm’s study of the impact on a new grocery store in various  locations are  available here:

Village Meeting Minutes – March and April 2013

At the March and April Board of Trustees meetings, the main topics of conversation were presentation on the state of our beaches by First Coastal Corporation and the unveiling of the architectural plans for the Southampton Center for the Arts (former Parrish Site).  In addition, the design guidelines for the business district were adopted (after the Southampton Association raised concerns over parking and control of the Hotel/Motel use), the Village budget was passed and Association Board member

Village Meeting Minutes – January and February 2013

At the January and February Board of Trustees meetings, the main topics of conversation continued to be the zoning amendment which would permit a Fresh Market grocery store at the former Glennon Cadillac site and the Village Center Master Plan, which will guide redevelopment and zoning in the Village center.

Numerous residents near the Glennon site and their attorney spoke at the board meetings opposing the zoning change. The Village board placed the zoning amendment on hold, citing the community

Village Meeting Minutes – November and December 2012

At the November and December Board of Trustees meetings, the main topics of discussion were the highway zoning amendment which could permit a Fresh Market grocery store at the former Glennon Cadillac site in the village and the town proposal to grant a variance for the construction of a King Kullen shopping center on County Road 39 in Tuckahoe.

Pottery Barn plans to open in Southampton in Spring, 2013 at former Saks Building
