Update on Tuckahoe Shopping Center Meeting at Suffolk County Planning Commission
Dear Southampton Association member,
The Suffolk County Planning Commission (after 5 hours of testimony and discussion) deemed the Tuckahoe application incomplete!
The result of the decision is that the Town will be required to refer the application to the Commission again prior to making a decision. We are not sure what additional information will be required but our guess is it will be at least, in part, related to traffic.

Village Meeting Minutes – May through September, 2016
The main topics of conversation throughout the Village during the summer months concerned the North Sea Road plan to increase commercial uses along that corridor, disputes over beach access and parking at the end of Meadow Lane, the purchase of the Town’s Land Preservation Fund of the Pyrrhus Concer site on Pond Lane, and progress on a study of residential zoning in the Village.

Southampton Association Awards Two Scholarships to local students

Southampton Association Scholarship
Two 2016 Southampton High School graduates were given the Southampton Association Scholarship in Memory of Arthur B. Schoen, Jr. Both will receive a grant of $4,000 for each year of college. It is one of the largest single local scholarships and has been helping graduates of Southampton High School for over twenty years.

Village Meeting Minutes – November and December 2015
The main topic of conversation during November and December was the proposed Sewer District. In addition, after interviews with the Planning Commission, a North Fork Architect/Planner was selected by the Trustees to review various formulas, including gross floor area and lot coverage, which the Association identified in its “6 point plan” as needing change.

Presentation on Village Sewer Treatment-Drainage Plan
The Southampton Village Planning Commission held another presentation on the the proposed sewer district on January 7th. The Commission was originally going to prepare its recommendations for the Village Board regarding the sewer district proposal at this week’s meeting, but the discussion will remain ongoing for now.

Tuckahoe Shopping Center Zone Change Voted Down by Suffolk County Planning Commission
The Suffolk County Planning Commission has voted against a proposed Tuckahoe Shopping Center zone change application by a vote of 8-5. The vote which took place on December 2nd does not stop the shopping center proposal but it does mean that the Southampton Town Board will need four out of five board members to approve the zone change application. The plan had included a 40,000 sq. ft. supermarket on Magee Street and a 15,000 sq. food shopping center.
